Alicia Overton
Alicia was born and raised in Pomona, California and inspired at an early age by her father who was a western landscape painter. Her early work was primarily pencil drawing and oil painting. She interviewed at Pasadena Art Center to study Illustration. It was in the 1990's that she became fascinated with abstract art and expressing emotion thru color and began painting with Acrylic paint. Alicia briefly worked as an art consultant in Atlanta, GA selling art and teaching design seminars. She has always loved interior design and how art is such an integral part of the process.
From 1990 to 2013 the artist was focused on large colorful abstract paintings on canvas. Alicia’s work has been shown at various Los Angeles area, and Inland Empire galleries. Her work is in collections Internationally. She was a resident of the Arts Colony in Pomona, CA and was highlighted in Canvas to a Cure at the Four Seasons Gallery in West Lake Village, CA. in 2011.
The artist was a member of the Chaffey Community Art Association, the Riverside Art Council, The Mountain Arts Network, and the Arts Council of Big Bear Valley. After moving to Mississippi she served as the Vice President of the Ocean Springs Art Association for a year. Alicia's work is currently sold at the Gulfport Galleria of Fine Art in Gulfport, MS currently. And some pieces are available online thru artspan.com
A move to Lake Arrowhead, CA inspired Alicia to paint in a surreal style using themes from the lake. These paintings depict fish and other items floating in the air, these themes are from reoccurring dreams the artist has had since childhood. Alicia paints from her home studio and currently resides in Biloxi, Mississippi.
The artist seeks to learn about what has been done, what is being done and what can be done in art. A trip to Madrid and Barcelona Spain in 2019 inspired many of her newer works.
